With the passing seasons...

The driftless region of Iowa offers year round beauty and an abundance of adventures.  Snow shoeing and cross country skiing through the Effigy Mounds calls for a welcoming wood fire at StoneHaus Farm.  Spring time foraging inspires culinary creations back in the kitchen.  Bikers and fisherman alike delight in the rolling hills and spring-fed valley streams.  Autum colors paint a beautiful backdrop for hikers and hunters.  StoneHaus Farm is a tranquil retreat for any season.

Hi! We’re Mark and Cheryll Mellenthin, proprietors of StoneHaus Farm. We fell in love with this Driftless corner of NE Iowa in 1999 when we purchased a small, rustic cabin on an isolated trout stream a few stream valleys west.  Then in the winter of 2009 we chanced upon this 165-year old farmstead. Icicles had formed in the one of the basement rooms and the house had no usable plumbing, heat or electricity. Still, the massive stone house, glorious hand-built bank barn and other outbuildings made up for what the farm lacked in basic infrastructure. StoneHaus Farm has been a labor of love us.
